about

Möbius was a mathematician who discovered that if you took a length of paper and twisted it once before joining the ends you actually ended up with a loop of paper that only had one side! His discovery is generally called the Möbius Strip and I find it a fascinating conecpt. This track was inspired by the idea that taking something simple and giving it a special twist can completely redefine what it is. The initial theme is not the 'something simple', it's the actually the piano motif at 5:03 which was the initial inspiration for the track but is heard at 2:03 with violins playing. The special twist given was that even though the notes being played are from the chords of F minor and D flat major the bass notes being played are mostly note from either of those chords. This works really well for some reason and as the track builds into the final climax the sound of anvils can be heard in the percussion! (A first for any Purple Rhapsody track)

about

Purple Rhapsody Manchester, UK

I'm Terry Robinson and I'm a multi-instrumentalist and composer working under the pseudonym Purple Rhapsody.

All of my music is instrumental and ranges from piano solo to full-on instrumental progressive rock via mixtures of orchestral instruments and other off-beat arrangements.

However, whichever style is prevalent in a track, all tracks have a "feel" that is distinctly Purple Rhapsody!
